Loch Lochy: Ben Nevis view
About the trip
Less than 30 minutes drive from Fort William, situated along the Great Glen Way, paddle our closest fresh water loch! From the comfort of your canoe, join us on a journey that showcases Scotland’s breathtaking, mountainous landscape – including Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Expect a day designed for you; taking on board your skills, previous experience (if any), interests and wishes. For some, this will mean a day of gentle paddling and soaking up the scenery. For others, it may mean a day full of silliness, games and adventure as we explore what the loch has to offer.
If the Scottish weather decides to take a turn and the winds pick up, rest assured that we can take full advantage of this and hoist the canoe sails to race from bay to bay. These secluded bays dotted along the shoreline provide the perfect spots for lunch breaks, BBQs and cool down dips in the water.
No matter the type of group you are (family, friends, mature couple, etc), we will aim to deliver a journey that is tailored to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
As all trips are private (no mixed bookings):
- Trip timings can be altered to suit your other holiday plans.
- Trip locations can be altered if the forecasted conditions are looking more favourable on a different stretch of water that day.
- If you’re a family booking, let us know what age range your children are and we will come armed with plenty of games and challenges to keep the day varied and exciting for them.
- If you like the idea of having a BBQ lunch, please let us know in advance so we can provide you with the appropriate equipment.
Help us make this the highlight of your holiday by letting us know on your booking form if there is anything we can do to make this trip extra special for you.

“I did a bit of research before booking with River to Sea Scotland. The website filled me with confidence and the experience itself certainly did not disappoint. In fact, it actually exceeded our expectations.
Firstly. I emailed before I booked to ask for some recommendations. Reece responded with a couple of ideas which sounded great. The weather on the day was a little temperamental so Reece sent us a message advising of the best location to start to make the most of the weather, and to make it easier for the return leg later.
We arrived, Reece was so kind and inviting and made us amatures feel at ease. He was really open to keeping the day flexible to make sure we had the best possible experience. He made sure that we were all safe and comfortable and gave us reassurance before getting in the water. He was on hand for guidance the whole way through.
We were slightly concerned about our 7 year old son getting tired as it is a long day. However Reece had so many ideas to keep him entertained including games and teaching him about the local history. Our son had such an amazing day that he even wanted to go back the following day to see Reece, much to his disappointment we couldn’t So thank you Reece. It was a real highlight of our holiday. We will certainly be back on our next Scottish adventure!” – Michelle R (TripAdvisor)
